Button batteries -- found in watches, hearing aids, electronics, and some toys -- are a hazardous material. They can be recycled in the designated container at all town transfer stations and at Town Halls in Erving, Gill, Hawley, and Sunderland. They may also be brought to the District Office at 117 Main St., 2nd Floor in Greenfield. Button batteries are usually accepted free of charge by stores that sell them or by watch and jewelry shops. Button batteries are a hazardous material.
