The Massachusetts Environmental Protection Agency has added textiles to the Waste Ban list. As of November 1, 2022, all textiles, including shoes, should be separated from trash and brought to your town tranfer station and put in their designated textiles box. Salvation Army directly accepts shoes in wearable condition, but also ones that are missing a mate, stained, ripped, or broken. (Shoes no longer in a condition to be resold for wearing are recycled into insulation or other products.)
