As of 11/1/22 a new state regulation requires that clean and dry mattresses and box springs be brought to a mattress recycling site. The Solid Waste District has set up five regional mattress recycling sites at these transfer stations: Bernardston, Colrain, Deerfield, Montague, and Wendell. See more information here.
Orange residents with a transfer station permit can recycle mattresses at the Orange transfer station. Any resident can bring a mattress to the Greenfield Transfer Station.
Mattresses requireing disposal can still be brought to the Bernardston, Colrain, Conway, Deerfield, Montague, New Salem, Orange, Rowe, Warwick, and Wendell town transfer stations.There is a disposal fee.
