Land-line phones: Disposal is available to all District residents at the Clean Sweep Collection or telephones may be placed in the garbage.

Cell phones: Cell phones contain hazardous materials and should not be put in the trash. There are numerous charitable and for-profit organizations that accept donations such as:

  • Cartidges For Kids an organization dedicated to helping schools and businesses recycle their used inkjets, toner cartridges, and handheld electronics.
  • Verizon’s HopeLine phone recycling program collects and donates wireless phones & equipment to assist victims of domestic violence.
  • You can also drop them off at most stores that sell cellular phones and electronics, including (but not limited to) Staples and Best Buy.

Cell phones and their batteries are accepted in the battery recycling programs at all District transfer stations; hand to attendant. They may also be brought to the District Office at 117 Main St., 2nd Floor in Greenfield.
