Some town transfer stations have book recycling containers; you can see what your town accepts. Book exchanges at local transfer stations, used bookstores, or local libraries are a great place to drop off readable books and keep them in circulation. “Little Free Library” book-sharing boxes have grown in popularity; find one near you at: littlefreelibrary.org/map. Roundabout Books in Greenfield accepts books in any condition; donations are sorted for local and mail-order sale and all types are unsalable books are recycled at a local paper mill. Hardcover books can only be recycled by tearing out the pages to recycle, and putting the covers and spine in the trash. Paperback books can be put into paper recycling in their entirety; no need to remove the cover or spine of paperbacks.
