Plastic buckets and pails that contained kitty litter are not recyclable in household recycling programs. Plastic items for recycling must be sized at 2.5 gallons or smaller.
5 gallon pails are accepted in a special recycling program for Bulky Rigid Plastics at Clean Sweep Bulky Waste Recycling Days. Similar programs exist at the transfer stations in Charlemont, Leverett, Shelburne, and Whately (transfer stations open to town residents only).
