Online pre-registration for the 2021 collection will begin in mid-August and end on SEPTEMBER 17.

You must PRE-REGISTER to participate. (Clicking the link in the previous sentence opens the registration form.) Online pre-registration for the 2021 collection will end on SEPTEMBER 17. After registering, you will receive a postcard in the mail assigning you a time and giving you directions to the collection site. Please call our office if you haven't received a card within five business days of submitting your information.
Businesses will be charged for disposal cost. Call 413-772-2438 for business registration information.
We are planning our collection event with health and safety precautions. To participate you must: wear a mask, remain inside your vehicle with the windows closed, place all of your waste in the trunk, rear cargo area, or truck bed.
Materials not collected this year: auto batteries, household batteries, mercury thermostats, mercury thermometers. Most town transfer stations accept these items year-round.

FLUORESCENT LIGHT BULBS* (see below for alternate disposal options), LATEX PAINT, ASBESTOS, GAS CYLINDERS, RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL, EMPTY CONTAINERS FROM HAZARDOUS PRODUCTS, EXPLOSIVES INCLUDING AMMUNITION AND FIREWORKS
*At the annual Hazardous Waste Collection Day, only mercury-containing items such as thermostats and thermometers will be accepted; fluorescent bulbs are no longer accepted at the annual Hazardous Waste Collection Day. CFLs and other fluorescent bulbs are accepted at the following locations: Lowe’s Stores; at all District transfer stations (handle carefully and hand to attendant); and Greenfield Transfer Station (handle carefully and hand to attendant). Additionally, mercury-containing items and bulbs are accepted at the Regional Hazardous Waste Collection sites (temporarily closed) in Bernardston, Colrain, and Conway.
